Advocacy Services

What is an advocate and why do I need one?

An advocate assists you in making sure your needs and concerns are being heard and understood.  My goal is to make sure you understand your rights and that they are being respected, that you know your options and works alongside you with the school to explore all available options to best serve your child.

Special Education has a lot of acronyms, and sometimes words that mean one thing in normal conversation, mean something different within Special Ed jargon.  Sometimes this can lead to miscommunications and confusion.  It can feel daunting to sit in a meeting when you aren't familiar with the process which can lead to forgetting questions you intended to ask, or just not knowing what questions TO ask.

I can make sure you understand all of the lingo and help remind you what questions you wanted to ask and consider more questions based on the situation. When difficult situations arise at school emotions can run high.  As an objective third party, I can relieve tension and help the team come together to find and create solutions.

Due to laws varying from State to State this service is limited to Arizona.  I can attend meetings in person in the Phoenix Metro Area (additional gas charge will apply if outside a 10 mile radius from Chandler) and can provide virtual services and attend meetings by phone or video chat throughout Arizona.
